Breeding with frozen semen is an expensive, complex procedure, particularly in our remote State of Hawaii. If you are considering using frozen
semen, you will need to become familiar with the procedure and prepare well in advance. In Hawaii, there are only a few veterinarians that are
proficient in the procedure. Several trips to the veterinarian will be made, a series of progesterone blood tests will have to be done to pinpoint the
time of ovulation, the semen which has been frozen in liquid nitrogen may have to be shipped, and the insemination will have to be done surgically;
much like a spay operation where the uterus is exposed, the semen is then injected directly into the uterus.
